Our customer ShipNow, was a Chicago based startup developing dynamic Rating and Shipping Management Rules Engine integrated with end customer’s warehouse management, Fulfillment and ERP systems.ShipNow and the product we developed was later acquired by Kewill, a leading SCM Software company in USA and UK, where the product still continues in production today as their flagship shipping platform.
Business Need
ShipNow was looking for a outsourced development partner who can build the product for them, as well as a team covering complete product lifecycle from analysis to support in a captive model.
Solution
Definitics CTO established an offshore center for ShipNow in India on at-cost basis. We initiated this offshore center with an core team of 4, who built the first (1.0) version of the product. When the product created vibes with our customers, we were operating at a headcount of 40+ when the ShipNow was acquired by one of its competitor SCM software company Kewill (www.kewill.com). Our engagement continued till the time the offshore team grew to 150+ engineers handling work for Product Development, Professional Services and level-2 and level-3 support.
We helped our client reduce time to market by 25% to 50% by streamlining and coordinating the various activities that goes into Software design. The product we architect has proven to process more than 100,000 transactions of rule-based rating and shipping per second.
